Hello. Alright, I've accepted the challenge!
In my opinion, we already have some of the most decent and effective members in the game... hard to improve on perfection. And I feel we all get along very well and help each other considerably... we have one of the best kept secrets in GW.
Recently, I was researching other guilds and I came across some interesting ideas that I thought I might share that could potentially jazz things up even further. Let me preface this with a disclaimer: I am not unhappy with anything in this guild and these ideas are not meant to dramtically change or undermine anything. I simply thought it might add a little more zest to our otherwise excellent guild. Here goes.
I'd like to propose a few activities that might be fun for everyone. I've come across nearly 50 such activities so if I were to list them all, it would become cumbersome. Here are some of my favorites - 15 suggestions for everyone's consideration. Note: some of these are my own naming or creation.
1)
Foxes and Fowl (or a
Chicken Run): A nice prize is determined. 1 person is the "chicken". The chicken stays in 1 campaign (EoTN, Nightfall, etc.) and runs from 1 point to another (no mapping) and goes through several cities, doorways, etc. A clue of the chicken's current position is shared every couple of minutes. The "foxes" must try and deduce where the chicken is running to and give chase. The goal of the foxes is to cut the chicken off and catch it before it reaches it's destination. More details later.
2)
Bits and Pieces: A chef is making a soup and is missing several key ingrediants. The players (can also be teams of 4 or less) have to go out and get the needed ingrediants to complete the soup (5 total items). The winner(s) get a cash award. All participants may contribute into a winnings pot.
3)
Skin Slaying: Make up teams of 8 and have competitions for the fastest accomplishment of a dungeon or quest - with no armor. Reward can be determined later - maybe a team snapshot posted on the webpage.
4)
Royalty for a Day: One person wins "Royalty for a Day" by sharing the funniest "most embarassing goof" in the game or "greatest victory" for everyone to vote on. The Royalty for a Day winner will receive a full team to help on three quests/missions of his/her majesty's choosing... preferably assisted by the "peasants" who didn't win. This could also be a random lottery.
5)
Campaign Week: Pick a week and everyone focuses on mission or quests from that campaign only. This helps for titles and for filling books.
6)
Mini Seek: A desirable mini is offered as a reward. A person hides in a certain location that others can access and the first person to find the person gets the mini. The person hiding must send out clues or take pictures of surroundings to help others find him/her.
7)
Target Test: Have a competition to see who can destroy the most targets in a given period of time. An entrance fee may be used to determine a pot of winnings to the fastest time. Another prize is acceptable too.
8)
Sunday Spotlight: Pick a person at random and have people post their best experience/story/memory of that person on the website. Good for building friendship and familiarity. Maybe offer some sort of gift?
9)
Killing Clinics: Have some of the senior members share builds, techniques, and insights into a particular type of character or quest/mission to help mentor others.
10)
Skinny Team Challenge: Have 4 vs. 4 competitions - doing a run, quest, faction farm, etc. Create a team of four to complete whatever task is assigned that week. Each 4-person team tries the same challenge and to complete it with the fewest deaths or fastest time. Maybe even most kills in a period of time.
11)
Survivor Series: 1 vs. 1 competition where each person starts and ends with only 1 build to their character and has to fight all challengers with that same build. Winner takes all. Some rules might need to be included against certain builds (invinci monks, etc.).
12)
Triangle Races: 8 people go out to a certain area and have to run to 3 different points in the fastest time while avoiding mobs and critters (triangle points can be rez stations). You'd have to determine if you want speed, survivability, armor/protection, etc. A person would be established at each triangle point to judge fairness, etc. Prize could be anything.
13)
Simon Says: Have a "Simon" go through 20 commands and see who can keep up. Winner and fairness is determined by judges. A tie goes into round 2, then round 3, etc. You have 3 seconds to repeat move/command or you're disqualified. Winner takes all?
14)
Peewee Parade or Mini March: During special occassions, break out your minis in the guild hall and have a parade. Silly yes, but we get to bring out our favorite minis that we worked so hard to get and walk them about for all to see.
15)
Valentines Day: This revolves around Red Irises. You can give them to guildmates - if someone sees you, you have to give them one. The person with the most wins a prize - maybe Royalty for a Day? You can also make it warmer by being the first person to give away 20 Red Irises to guild members... you have to give them to people in our guild who you see. First one out of Red Irises, wins.
So there you have it... there are more ideas, but these were some of my favorites. Let me know what you think. Officers, maybe you want to pick 5 of these or some of your own and vote on them - then try them for a period of time to see how it goes.
As I said, I have no alterior motives for doing this... I just thought you might have some fun with these. Let me know what you think. Cheers!
